Savannah Completes Sweep with 2-0 Win

Savannah starter Angel Cuan allowed one bunt single through six innings, and Savannah broke through with two runs in the sixth and defeated the Lexington Legends 2-0 Monday in Savannah. With the win, the Sand Gnats completed a sweep of the four-game series.

Legends starter Ruben Alaniz matched Cuan through the first five innings. He allowed only one hit, a fourth-inning single by Rafael Fernandez, until the sixth. With one out in the sixth, Luis Nieves drew a walk, and Alaniz struck out Darrell Ceciliani, Alonzo Harris tripled to left center field, scoring Nieves with the game's first run. Fernandez followed with a single to score Harris.

Cuan (9-1) struck out nine batters and did give up a walk. Adam Kolarek allowed three hits over the final three innings to pick up his fourth save.

Alaniz (5-9) was the losing pitcher. The Legends are off Wednesday, and will open an eight-game homestand Thursday night against Rome. Game time is 7:05 p.m. at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.
