
Three Solo Homers Lift Crawdads to 3-0 Win

Hickory, N.C. - The Hickory Crawdads used three solo homers and a solid pitching effort to top the Delmarva Shorebirds (12-20) 3-0 at L.P. Frans Stadium on Tuesday afternoon. The Shorebirds went without a hit over the final four innings. The Shorebirds and Crawdads split a four-game series.
The Crawdads powered their way on the board in the second inning. Christian Villanueva connected on his 13th homer of the year to give the 'Dads a 1-0 lead.
In the fourth inning, Tomas Telis and Andrew Clark hit back-to-back homers to lift the Crawdads to a 3-0 edge.
Shorebirds starter David Baker allowed only two other hits in addition to the three homers. In six innings, he struck out five batters and walked three. Randy Henry entered in the seventh and tossed scoreless innings. Henry struck out one and walked one.
Nick Tepesch allowed two hits over six innings to earn his sixth win of the season and third over the Shorebirds. Tepesch struck out four and walked four. Andrew Doyle, Jimmy Reyes and Francisco Mendoza combined to toss three hitless and scoreless innings to finish off the Shorebirds.
