Sanford assigned to Long Beach

The Hamilton Bulldogs announced today that defenceman James Sanford has been assigned to the Long Beach Ice Dogs (ECHL).

Sanford, 22, played in 54 games for the Bulldogs in 2005-06, posting 28 points (10 goals, 18 assists) and 39 penalty minutes. His 10 goals tied the franchise record for most goals in a single season by a defenceman. The native of Alma, New Brunswick has collected four assists and 12 penalty minutes in eight games with the Ice Dogs this season.

The Bulldogs wrap up the 2005-06 season tonight when they host the Toronto Maple Leafs' AHL Affiliate, the Toronto Marlies. Game time is 7:00 p.m. and it can be seen live on The Score. Walter Gretzky will be at the game and will participate in pre-game ceremonies.
