Morgan's third double of the game came in the seventh inning and scored Sanchez, and Morgan scored shortly thereafter on Quincy Latimore's base hit. The Crawdads scored their final two runs in the bottom of the eighth. Andres James hit his first homer of the season to start the inning and Doug Hogan doubled in the next run. The Power registered their fourth two-run inning of the night in the top of the ninth. Greg Picart started the inning with a triple and scored on Sanchez's base hit. Gabriel Alvarado made his first relief appearance of the season and allowed just a pair of runs on three hits over four innings.

West Virginia improved to 49-61 overall, and 22-18 in the second half after the victory, while the Crawdads fell to 54-58 overall and 21-22 in the second half after the loss. Seven out of the starting nine hit safely for West Virginia. Austin McClune singled in the eighth inning to extend his on base streak to 18 games.
