Legends' Steve Brown named SAL player of week

Lexington Legends outfielder Steve Brown has been named South Atlantic League Player of the Week for August 3-9, SAL President Eric Krupa announced today (August 10).

For the week, Brown batted .429 with 12 hits in 28 at-bats, including three home runs and a triple. He drove in 11 runs, and had a slugging percentage of .821. Brown, a native of Colombia, has been active in public service as well.

"Steve has been a valuable member to our team the past two seasons, but more importantly, Steve has been a terrific member of our community," said Legends General Manager Andy Shea. "This season he has spoken to college classes at Transylvania and he has been a significant contributor in our Hispanic outreach program. I'm very happy to see he is also being recognized for his outstanding accomplishments on the field."

Brown and the Legends will play at home against Asheville August 10 and 11, and West Virginia August 12, 13, 14 and 15. Game time each night is 7:05 p.m.
