Charleston Dirty Birds News Release
Charleston, WV (August 10, 2009) - The West Virginia Power in conjunction with Venture Family Fun Center will be hosting the Power Strike-Out, a charity bowling event, this Sunday, August 16, 2009. Proceeds from the event will benefit RSVP, a local volunteer group for senior citizens.
RSVP is America's largest volunteer network for people age 55 and over. They are comprised of nearly 500,000 volunteers across the country and work with thousands of local and national organizations. The local chapter of RSVP provided volunteers to the West Virginia Power for the 2009 South Atlantic League All-Star Jamboree.
"RSVP was a big help when it came to additional staffing for the 2009 South Atlantic League All-Star Game and surrounding events," stated West Virginia Power Director of Operations Jeremy Taylor. "This event not only allows fans the opportunity to bowl with a Power player or coach, it is also a way of for us to thank RSVP for all their help and hard work during the All-Star Game."
The event will take place from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Venture Family Fun Center in St. Albans. Guests will have the opportunity to bowl three games alongside a Power player or coach as well as collect autographs. Tickets for the event are $25.00 per bowler.
"The Pittsburgh Pirates host a similar event each year called 'Bowling for Bucs'," stated Executive Vice President Andy Milovich. "It is our hope that the Power Bowl-a-Thon will become an annual event that not only serves as a fundraiser for a local charity, but an event that the fans and players look forward to."
