San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio Rampage forwards Martin Sonnenberg and Pavel Brendl had a spectacular night with three points a piece and was enough to take the game to overtime against their Texas rival Houston Aeros. The West Division-leading Aeros pulled out their second win at the SBC Center this season with a final score of 4-3 on New Year's Eve.

The Rampage jumped to a quick 2-0 lead to start off the game when Brendl scored his first two goals in his third game with the Rampage. Sonnenberg fed Brendl at the left goal line who wristed the puck off the left leg of Seamus Kotyk's goal pads at 7:34. Ten minutes later he would score again as Sonnenberg and Matthew Spiller were credited with the assists.

The Aeros fought back in the second period with a short-handed goal from former Rampage Josh Olson at the 5:05 before Clayton Stoner tied the score at 2-2 a minute and a half later.

The Rampage retaliated when Brendl helped Sonnenberg tally a goal of his own with a little under three minutes to go in the second period to regain the lead.

Former Rampage player Petr Taticek would help the Aeros knot the score 27 seconds into the third period and force the game into overtime. Houston's Ryan Stokes made his first AHL goal of the season count as he scored the game winning goal 1:32 into overtime.

The Rampage (11-23-0-1) continue their five-game homestand in the New Year on January 5th facing the Aeros again at 7 p.m. at the SBC Center.
