
Senators assign Denis Hamel to Binghamton

OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators reassigned left-winger Denis Hamel to the club's American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators, following their 4-3 win over the New York Islanders Friday night.
The 28-year-old saw 12:11 of ice-time through 16 shifts in Ottawa's win over the Islanders. In three games through two recalls to the Senators this season, Hamel has one goal and an even +/- rating while averaging 9:00 minutes of time on ice.
The Lachute, Que. native leads the Binghamton Senators in goals (20) and points (42) through his 31 games this season. He has also collected a team-leading 11 power-play goals and 24 power-play points. Hamel has been held off the scoresheet in only two of his 13 games in December, picking up has 21 points (11-10) with Binghamton this month. Prior to his recall with Ottawa he set a new B-Sens record by scoring a goal in six straight games from Dec. 18 to 28.
Earlier this season, Hamel was named the CCM Vector/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 13. In four games that week, Hamel had five goals and three assists, including one game-winning goal.
The Binghamton Senators are sixth in the East Division with 13 wins, 17 losses, two overtime and shootout losses for 30 points. The B-Sens' next game is tonight (Dec. 31) when they host Syracuse.
