San Antonio Missions News Release

San Antonio fanned a season-high 14 times during a 4-2 loss to Midland Tuesday night at Wolff Stadium.

Offense was at a premium in Tuesday's series opener, with San Antonio's Bryan Rodriguez and Midland's Dillon Overton matching zeroes through the first three innings.

In the top of the fourth, the RockHounds finally broke through, plating a pair of runs off Rodriguez courtesy of consecutive RBI singles by Josh Whitaker and Beau Taylor.

The Missions could not solve Overton, but took advantage of his replacement, Andres Avila, in the bottom of the sixth. Duanel Jones started the rally with a one-out single. Two batters, the red-hot Gabriel Quintana tied the game at two when he deposited Avila's 1-1 pitch onto the berm in left. It was Quintana's third homer in just his fourth Double-A game.

However, the game did not remain tied for long, as Colin Walsh gave Midland a 3-2 lead in the seventh with an RBI single off reliever Brandon Alger (3-6).

An inning later, the RockHounds tacked on an insurance run with a Taylor RBI single off right-hander Eric Yardley.

Avila (5-1) picked up the win in relief. His fellow bullpen mates, Tucker Healy and Seth Frankoff (8th save), each put up zeroes over the final two innings to lock up the Midland victory.

San Antonio (26-38, 57-77) resumes its four-game series against Midland (44-20, 79-55) Wednesday on Military Appreciation Night presented by STVT. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. Aaron Northcraft (1-2, 2.93) will get the ball for the Missions, while the 'Hounds counter with fellow righty Parker Frazier (4-2, 2.95).

Notes: Auston Bousfield (1-for-4) pushed his hit streak to eight games. The previous strikeout high for a Mission opponent was 13 (4/16 vs. Tulsa and 6/22 vs. Corpus Christi).
