
Saltdogs RHP McKiernan Earns A.A. Pitcher of the Week

LINCOLN - Saltdogs RHP Eddie McKiernan was named American Association Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 23, as announced by Pointstreak, the league's statistician.
McKiernan went 2-0 with with a 1.38 ERA in two starts - his first two of the season after beginning the campaign as a reliever. The 24-year old struck out 10, walked four and allowed just eight hits over 13 innings, in victories over Sioux City and Winnipeg.
The Pasadena, Calif. native becomes the fourth Saltdogs player to earn a weekly award so far in 2013, joining INF Dennis Raben, INF Ian Gac and LHP Matt Bywater.
Overall for the season, McKiernan is 6-1 with a 2.34 ERA in 34 2/3 innings of work. He is the active league leader in victories. American Association hitters are batting just .214 against.
McKiernan was originally selected in the 2007 MLB draft by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and had spent parts of the previous three seasons pitching for their Triple-A affiliate in Salt Lake City.
