St. Paul Saints News Release
ST. PAUL, MN (June 24, 2013) - After a tough weekend for the bullpen in Gary, the Saints have added another relief option for manager George Tsamis to call on. This time they looked to the Sun Belt Conference, signing former Florida Atlantic pitcher Hugh Adams.
The 6'5 23-year-old was superb in his senior season with the Owls after missing all of 2012 with injury. He was one of 10 relievers in the nation to be honored this month with 2013 All-American status by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers. Adams was selected to the Third Team after posting a 3-0 record and 3.49 ERA in a career high 29 appearances. He also racked up a Florida Atlantic single-season record 18 saves while striking out 38 and walking 13. Opponents hit .262 against him.
During his four year career at FAU, Adams set both the school and Sun Belt Conference record for saves with his total of 31. His 99 career appearances also make him the most called upon pitcher in Owls history. Adams was named first-team all-conference and made the All-Region team after both the 2011 and 2013 seasons. Before college, Adams was a dominant prep pitcher at St. John's College High School in Washington D.C., garnering all-conference recognition in each of his final three seasons.
The Saints roster stands at the league maximum 22 players, 11 pitchers and 11 position players with one player on the disabled list.
