SAINT PAUL, Minn. -- In a home-run filled series opener, Adam Frost got the last laugh with a walk-off two-run shot to give the St. Paul Saints (18-19) a 7-6 victory over the Saltdogs (21-16) in front of 4,083 fans at Midway Stadium Monday night.
Frost's line drive home run came with two outs and a 2-2 count in the bottom of the ninth. It was Lincoln closer R.J. Rodriguez's (0-1) first blown save in 15 chances on the campaign.
The Saints overcame a 5-0 sixth-inning deficit and a 6-5 ninth-inning hole to snap a four-game skid.
Six home runs were hit in total. Daniel Carroll began the game with a lead-off home run, his sixth. Tyler Goodro and Yasel Gomez each clubbed their first home runs for the Saltdogs.
Mark Hamburger pitched eight innings, allowing five runs on 11 hits while striking out a season-high 11 but did not factor into the decision.
Mikey Mehlich (2-0) allowed a run with three walks in one inning but got the victory.
The clubs play game two of their three-game set Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. Mike Burns (2-1, 4.58) will square off against Wes Roemer (3-4, 6.81). Radio coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. on KFOR 1240.
