AMARILLO, TX - In the first game at Amarillo National Bank Sox Stadium the Sox beat the Diablos 11-5 with two consecutive five-run innings and then in the second game, winning 12-3 in two hours and two minutes. A crowd of 1,176 saw the Sox improve their home win streak to eight. Matt Larkins and Ryan Mitchell earn their fourth wins as starters in the Sox rotation.

The Sox took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second in the first seven-inning game. Chris Grossman walked and would score on a groundout by Cory Patton. El Paso tied it in the next half inning with a double by Jose Garcia. The Diablos took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth when Jonathon Cisneros singled in Devin Thaut, who walked to get on base. But Amarillo regained the lead with five runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Chris Valencia led off the inning with a single and later scored on an error by the left fielder. After Patton was intentionally walked to load the bases, Brandon Jones came to the plate. On the first pitch he saw, Jones launched a hanging curve over the left field wall for the first grand slam at home for Amarillo this season. The score was 6-2 before the sixth.

The Diablos came within two runs via Murray Watts' two-run homer immediately following an error which had allowed Brian Joynt on base. The Sox scored five more runs in the bottom of the sixth, with RBIs from Cory Patton, Jason Martin (2), and KC Serna. To finish the game, Patton came in relief for the seventh and allowed a run on no hits while hitting the first batter, walking three more, and striking out one.

Starter and pitching coach for the Diablos, Ryan Henderson (L, 0-1) went four and a third innings and gave up six runs, five earned on seven hits while walking three and striking out one. Matt Larkins (W, 4-1) gave up four runs, three earned on seven hits with a walk and four strikeouts in six innings pitched. El Paso reliever Keven Cooper recorded two outs in the fifth, allowing one hit with a walk and a strikeout. Hector Contin pitched the entire sixth for the Diablos and allowed five runs total on four hits while walking two and striking out one.

Brandon Jones went deep again in the second game, starting the scoring at 2-0 in the second inning with a long ball off the scoreboard in left. With a hit, walk, and error in the top of the third, El Paso cut the deficit in half. David Peralta and Joe Weik picked up RBIs in the bottom of the third with a sacrifice fly and single respectively. Six more runs scored in the Sox' fourth inning with Chris Valencia batting in two, Peralta another, and Adam DeLaGarza driving in a run on a single. Two Diablo errors also contributed to the run-scoring.

Ryan Mitchell put the Diablos down in order during the fourth and fifth innings before allowed two runs on two sacrifice fly balls in the sixth to make the score 10-3 going into the bottom half. Sox catcher of the second game, Trey Ford capped the night off with a two-run bomb to left, his third hit of the game. And then Mitchell closed out his complete game performance by striking out the side in the seventh.

Steve Lintz (L, 0-1) pitched three innings and allowed four runs on five hits with a walk. Carlos Monasterios gave up six runs, five earned on six hits in his inning pitched for the Diablos. Derek Forbes had two innings of relief and gave up two runs on four hits with two walks.
