Saltdogs earn sweep

LINCOLN, NE- The Lincoln Saltdogs completed a four-game sweep of Sioux City on Thursday, blanking the Explorers 4-0 at Haymarket Park. With the win, the Saltdogs earned their first four-game sweep since they took four from St. Paul in July of 2007.
Lincoln starter Jason Jarvis (2-5) needed 111 pitches to get through six innings, but he made the most of them, keeping the X's off the scoreboard while striking out nine. Jarvis was at his best against Sioux City's Juan Camacho, who came to bat in the first, third and fifth innings with two outs and runners in scoring position. Jarvis struck him out all three times, the last coming on a fastball clocked at 96 miles per hour. After Jarvis departed, R.D. Spiehs retired nine of the final ten Sioux City batters to pick up his fifth save,
The Saltdogs, meanwhile, found a way to get to Sioux City starter Cameron Cheek (2-2). They manufactured a pair of runs in the second inning, with Mario Delgado and Skip Adams providing the RBIs. Lincoln then loaded the bases with two outs in the fourth for All-Star Dustin Yount, who cracked a two-run single to left to provide the final runs of the game.
On the night, Yount finished 2-for-4 with two RBI. Delgado went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, and Omar Bramasco tallied two hits and a run scored of his own.
The Saltdogs now head to Wichita, to open a three-game series Friday night at 7:05. Brian Campbell is scheduled to make the start for Lincoln.
