DH Paul Smyth went 2-for-3 with a home run to lead Sioux Falls over Wichita 6-5. The three run shot to right center was his fifth of the season and gave the Canaries a 5-0 lead after just a half inning of play. RF Ben Van Iderstine also had a big game, finishing 3-for-4. Kelly Casares picked up a win in relief to improve to 2-1. Justin Young was the loser as he lasted just one inning. Wichita got a homer and two RBI from C Felipe Del Rosario but after closing the gap to 6-5 after five innings, could get no closer.

El Paso 3, Grand Prairie 2 (Game 1 - 11 Innings)

In the first game of a doubleheader, El Paso outlasted Grand Prairie 3-2 in 11 innings. CF Kory Drew drew a bases loaded walk to force in the winning run. Each side used five pitchers in the contest and the Diablos staff did a superb job as they struck out nine batters, walked only four, and allowed just one earned run. Brandon Hudson picked up the win to move to 2-0 on the season. Offensively for El Paso the top of the order led the way with seven hits in 15 at-bats. 3B Edwin Maldonado had a three hit game for the AirHogs in a losing effort.

St. Paul 5, Shreveport 4 (10 Innings)

St. Paul recorded only one hit in the 10th inning but they were able to push across a run on a fielder's choice and beat Shreveport 5-4. DH Pichi Balet had an outstanding game as he finished a perfect 5-for-5. CF Brent Krause belted his ninth homer of the year to give the Saints an early 3-0 edge before Shreveport worked their way back into the contest. Neither starter factored in the decision as reliever Mike Bille got the win to move to 4-1 while Matt Clayman suffered the loss to fall to 2-7. Sports 3B Bobby Bratton homered and finished with three hits

Fort Worth 8, Pensacola 2

Fort Worth pitchers allowed just four hits and the Cats offense belted out three home runs to score an 8-2 win over Pensacola. With the win Fort Worth completed a four game sweep. 2B Jake Gautreau left the yard twice and SS Cameron Blair slugged his first of the year as the Cats never trailed. Dan Grybash went six strong innings to even his mark at 4-4. Daniel Smith struck out eight for the Pelicans over 5 2/3 innings but allowed four runs and fell to 0-2. CF Brian Fryer was 2-for-5 with a stolen base and RF Chuck Carter went 2-for-5 as well with an RBI. RF Rafael Alvarez drove in Pensacola's runs on his 11th homer of the year.

Lincoln 4, Sioux City 0

Jason Jarvis scattered six hits and struck out nine as Lincoln finished a four game sweep of the Explorers with a 4-0 win. 1B Dustin Yount paced the Saltdogs offense as he went 2-for-4 with two RBI. DH Mario Delgado and SS Omar Bramasco also had two-hit games. Cameron Cheek suffered the loss for Sioux City as he completed just four innings and allowed all four Lincoln runs. CF Dustin Jones turned in a fine effort from the leadoff spot as he finished 3-for-4.
