Wichita Wingnuts News Release
WICHITA, KS- The Sioux Falls Canaries knocked Wingnuts starter Justin Young out of the game with a five-run first inning and then hung on for a 6-5 win on Thursday night in front of a raucous crowd at Lawrence Dumont Stadium.
The Wingnuts slowly chipped away at the lead, thanks to a home run by Felipe Del Rosario and two RBI's from Dustan Mohr, as the Nuts' bullpen held the Canaries at bay. Kevin Cheppenko pitched six tremendous innings of relief for Wichita allowing just one run.
Unfortunately, Sioux Falls' bullpen was even more impressive allowing no runs and just two hits in 4 2/3 innings. Reliever Kelly Casares picked up the victory, while Kris Regas notched his 19th save. The Wingnuts will host the Lincoln Saltdogs on Friday at 7:05 p.m. For tickets call the Wingnuts office at (316) 264-4625.
