
Saltdogs Beat Sioux Falls

LINCOLN, NE - The Lincoln Saltdogs earned their eighth home win in a row on Friday, beating Sioux Falls 8-4 at Haymarket Park. Lincoln improves to 16-10 on the second half of the season.
Tied at four heading to the bottom of the eighth, Shea McFeely started the game-winning rally with a leadoff single. Brandon Jones bunted McFeely to second and Tycen Povey walked, but Josh Burrus struck out for the second out of the inning. Albenis Machado followed with a flare to left-center that left fielder Cody Haerther overran for an error, allowing McFeely to score the go-ahead run. Machado stole second, Phil Hawke hit a two-run single, and Steve Alexander hit an RBI single to cap the scoring for the Saltdogs.
The game seesawed back and forth all night, after Sioux Falls scored a run in the top of the first. Lincoln answered with a pair of runs in the second inning, on RBI singles by Jones and Burrus. The Canaries tied it up at two with a run in the third, and took a 3-2 lead in the fifth on three straight hits with two out. The Saltdogs answered with two more runs in the sixth, with McFeely and Burrus picking up one RBI each, but Sioux Falls tied it at four in the seventh with an unearned run.
Adam Daniels (5-2) tossed 1.2 scoreless innings of relief to earn the win, striking out four Canaries batters. Machado, Hawke, McFeely, Rafael Alvarez and Gavin Dickey all had two hits apiece for Lincoln, with Alvarez and Dickey scoring a pair of runs each.
The two teams play game two of their three-game series Saturday night at 7:05. Righty Jim Paduch will make the start for Lincoln.
