El Paso Chihuahuas News Release

The Salt Lake Bees extended their winning streak to five games Saturday night, beating the El Paso Chihuahuas 6-3 at Southwest University Park. The loss snapped El Paso's four-game winning streak.

The Chihuahuas allowed a first inning run for the second night in a row when Salt Lake's Efren Navarro lined an RBI double to right-center field. El Paso quickly tied the game on Tommy Medica's first-inning sacrifice fly against Angels' prospect Andrew Heaney. The tie was short lived, as Salt Lake's Marc Krauss launched a solo home run to right field to lead off the second inning. The Bees took a two-run lead on Alex Yarbough's bases-loaded single in the fourth and a three-run lead when Kyle Kubitza singled through a drawn-in infield in the fifth.

The Chihuahuas collected four singles but settled for one run in the bottom of the sixth. Efren Navarro's two-run home run hit the center field batter's eye in the seventh inning and gave Salt Lake a 6-2 advantage. Abraham Almonte's RBI single in the bottom of the ninth was too little, too late.

Saturday was the first time since April 14th the Chihuahuas scored three runs or less. Daniel McCutchen allowed three runs in four innings in his first Chihuahuas start.
