The Salt Lake Bees fell to the Memphis Redbirds Thursday night at Smith's Ballpark 12-9. The Redbirds scored six runs in the first inning with the Bees replying with two runs in the bottom of the inning. The Bees closed the lead to two runs in the fourth inning with Luis Jimenez and Roberto Lopez hitting back-to-back home runs in the bottom of the fourth with John Hester and Vance Albitz also crossing the plate. The Redbirds extended the lead to six in the seventh inning with Xavier Scruggs, Pete Kozma, Greg Garcia and Oscar Taveras scoring off of a single by Taveras and a double by Stephen Piscotty. Tommy Field, J.B. Shuck and Grant Green all scored in the 8thinning, but the rally fell short. Green went 3-for-5 scoring twice andknocking in two. Shuck also put in a good night's work finishing 2-for-4 with two RBIs and scoring a run.
Salt Lake Starter RHP Anthony Lerew picks up the loss after putting in five innings of work giving up 12 hits and eight runs with one strikeout. John Gast collected the victory for Memphis.
