Iowa gets past Chihuahuas

June 20, 2014 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
El Paso Chihuahuas News Release

El Paso put together a ninth inning rally Friday, scoring two runs and bringing the tying run to the on-deck circle, but the Chihuahuas fell short, losing to the Iowa Cubs 8-3. Iowa won the final three games of the four-game series.

Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks pitched five perfect innings before Jonathan Galvez's infield single stopped the righty from taking a no-hitter into the late innings. Iowa scored six runs in the first five innings against Chihuahuas starter Donn Roach, who had allowed only one run in his previous two starts combined.

The Chihuahuas top two hitters in the lineup, Alex Castellanos and Tyler Greene, had two hits apiece for El Paso. Greene drove in two of El Paso's three runs.
