ST. PAUL, MN (August 20, 2007) - The numbers at Midway Stadium continue to go south for the St. Paul Saints as they lost for the eighth consecutive time at home this time a 7-3 loss to the Lincoln Saltdogs in front of 6,018 on Monday night.

The Saints once again never led in the game and have now gone 82.0 of their last 83.0 innings at home without leading. The Saltdogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Seth Pietsch led off with a double. Bryan Warner knocked him home with a single. Pichi Balet walked and with one out a wild pitch advanced the runners. The Saints intentionally walked Josh Patton to load the bases and Saints starter Alec Shepherd got a big out by getting Tony Garcia to foul out. Shepherd, however, walked Jay Yaconetti to force in a run.

The Saints got to within a run in the third when Demetrius Heath led off with a double, stole third and scored on a sacrifice fly from Marcel Longmire.

On this night, however, each time the Saints scored the Saltdogs had an answer. The Saltdogs loaded the bases with one out in the fourth and got a run on an RBI fielder's choice from Seth Pietsch to make it 3-1.

The Saints put two men on in the fourth inning when Ben Thomas reached second on a fly ball that tipped off the glove of the leftfielder Balet and a walk to Kevin Sullivan. Scooter Jordan came through with an RBI single making it 3-2.

The Saltdogs made it 4-2 when Balet led off the fifth by being hit by a pitch. After a ground out moved Balet to second, the Saints intentionally walked Patton. Tony Garcia came through with an RBI single.

The Saints scored their final run in the sixth when Heath doubled and Adam Bourassa drove him home with a single.

For the third time in the game the Saltdogs answered in the very next inning with a two-run double from Patton and an RBI double by Garcia.

Despite the loss the Saints remain 1.0 game in front of Sioux City who lost to Sioux Falls. The division, however, got a little tighter as the Saltdogs are 2.0 back and the Canaries are 3.0 back with five to go.

The same two teams meet Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. The Saints send RHP Charlie Ruud (10-3, 3.68) to the mound while the Saltdogs are TBA. The game can be seen on the Saints Cable Network and heard on KBGY 107.5 FM. It is a Night of 1000 Infomercials presented by Lurie Besikoff and Lapidus. The first 1,500 fans will also receive a Michael Vick Chew Toy.
