
Bays Named Pitcher Of The Week

SIOUX FALLS, SD (August 20, 2007) - Sioux Falls Canaries RHP Lenny Bays, was selected as the American Association's Pitcher of the Week of the week for August 13-19 by PA-Sportsticker, official statistician of the American Association.
Bays, 8-1 this season, went 2-0 with a 0.53 ERA in his two starts last week. In 17 innings pitched, Bays allowed a combined total of one run on seven hits and striking out 16 batters, including pitching a complete game one-hit shutout against the Lincoln Saltdogs. Bays is currently the top pitcher in the American Association with a 2.70 ERA.
Bays was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in 2002. This is Bays' second season with the Sioux Falls Canaries.
Jorge Alvarez of the El Paso Diablos was named the American Association's Batter of the Week for the second week in a row.
