The Pensacola Pelicans edged St. Joe at home thanks to a great outing from staring pitcher Andrew Edwards. Edwards allowed one run on four hits and struck out eight to improve to 3-10 on the year. Closer Chris Thompson picked up his 11th save of the season by tossing a perfect ninth. The Pelicans out-hit St. Joe 7-4, led by C Joe Hulett, who was 2-for-2. Blacksnakes C Dylan Parzyk was the lone man responsible for the earned run charged to Edwards. Parzyk was 1-for-3 with a solo home run in the losing effort.

Fort Worth 7, Coastal Bend 5 (Game 1 - 7 innings)

The Fort Worth Cats got five runs in the second inning which set the table for two runs in the sixth that gave them a two-run win at home. Cats SS Dallas Christison led the way at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double, a stolen base, two runs scored and two RBI. Fort Worth RF John Molyneux was a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI. Cats starting pitcher Joel Kirsten was credited with the win despite allowing five earned runs on six hits in seven innings of work. The win improves his record to 6-5 on the year.

Fort Worth 6, Coastal Bend 0 (Game 2 - 7 innings)

The Fort Worth Cats stayed hot and completed the sweep of their doubleheader against the Coastal Bend Aviators. The Cats found success behind a great start from pitcher Cory Walters, who allowed two hits and two walks while striking out six en route to a complete game shutout. The win improves Walters' record to 9-5 on the year. The Cats struck for five runs in the third frame and added another in the fourth and did not let the Aviators form any type of comeback. Cats C Kelley Gulledge led the way at the plate going 1-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI.

Sioux Falls 11, Sioux City 3

The Sioux Falls Canaries got a great outing from starting pitcher Pat Mahomes, but until the sixth inning, it looked like Sioux City starter Jose Cordero was going to get the better of his counterpart. But in that sixth inning, the Canaries struck for four runs to turn what was a 3-1 deficit into a 5-3 lead. Sioux Falls poured it on from there and Mahomes shut down the Explorers the rest of the way en route to the 11-3 win, Mahomes' 12th victory of the year. Mahomes allowed three earned runs on seven hits and struck out four in the complete game effort. Sioux Falls 3B Matt Imwalle hit his 15th home run in the win and SS Orlando Miller led all hitters with a 2-for-5 night that included a home run, two runs scored and three RBI.

Lincoln 7, St. Paul 3

The Lincoln Saltdogs used 11 hits to plate seven runs and upend the North Division-leading St. Paul Saints on the road. Saltdogs starter Jarrett Gardner allowed three runs, two earned on eight hits and four walks through six innings of work to improve to 9-4 on the year. The win improved Lincoln to 21-20 in the second half and pulls them to within two games of first place in the North Division. Lincoln LF Pichi Balet was 2-for-3 with two runs scored to lead the offensive effort. St. Paul 2B Demetrius Heath was 2-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored in the losing effort.

Shreveport 3, El Paso 2 (11 innings)

The Shreveport Sports clawed out a win in 11 innings at home against the El Paso Diablos thanks in large part to compiling 13 hits as a team. Sports RF JP Schmidt led all hitters in the game with a 3-for-5 effort that included a run scored. Shreveport 1B Tommy Bryant was 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI. Sports closer Aaron Cunningham was credited with the win, making him a perfect 3-0, after tossing four scoreless innings in which he walked three, but did not allow a hit. El Paso 3B Juan Camacho was 2-for-5 with a home run and two RBI in the losing effort.
