Shreveport Nips El Paso in Extras, 3-2

Wade Robinson's walk-off single gave the Shreveport Sports a 3-2 victory over the El Paso Diablos in eleven innings from Fairgrounds Field in Shreveport, LA on Monday night.

The Sports took an early lead in the bottom of the second. J.P Schmidt led off the frame with a double. He moved to third on a ground out and scored on an RBI ground out off the bat of Tommy Bryant for the 1-0 lead.

El Paso took the lead in the top of the fourth. Juan Camacho blasted a two-run homer to right center field giving El Paso a 2-0 lead.

Shreveport tied up the game in the bottom of the fifth. Austin Pride led off the frame with a walk. Brian Cooksey moved Pride to second on a sacrifice bunt. Deacon Burns picked up an RBI single to right field plating Pride, which tied up the game at two.

The Sports won it in the bottom of the eleventh. Tommy Bryant led off the frame with a towering triple off the center field wall. Wade Robinson became the hero with a single up the middle which plated Bryant for the 3-2 victory.

El Paso played in its second extra inning game in two nights. The Diablos are now 9-6 in extra innings affairs.

Eric Montoya threw six and a two third innings allowing two earned runs off of eight hits with two walks and seven strikeouts.

Bert Snow tossed seven innings allowing one earned run off of five hits he had one walk and five strikeouts.

Aaron Cunningham (3-0) picks up the win, he tossed four shut-out innings allowing no hits while walking two and striking out one.

Justin Knoff (5-2) takes the loss, he threw two full allowing one earned run off of three hits with no walks and no strikeouts.

The Diablos will take on Shreveport in game two of the three game set on Tuesday night at 6:05 PM (MST). Mike Cervera will match up against Derek Cunningham. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio 1380 AM as well as at www.diablos.com with Jon Barr on the call.
