
Saginaw Spirit Fall to Oshawa Generals 8-5

The Saginaw Spirit travelled to the General Motors Centre to face the Generals, falling to Oshawa 8-5.
The Generals opened the scoring at the 8:15 mark of the first period on a goal by Joe Manchurek. Assists on the goal went to Josh Sterk and Mitchell Vande Sompel. Sam Harding scored shorthanded quickly after, pulling the Generals to 2-0 at 9:37 of the period. Spirit's Connor Brown put Saginaw on the board at 10:46 of the first, with assists going to Artem Artemov and Dylan Sadowy. The Generals saw three more goals before the end of the period, finishing the first 20 minutes of play 5-1 over the Spirit. Shots on goal after the first Oshawa 21, Saginaw 11.
The Saginaw Spirit turned in a solid second period, adding two goals to cut the score against Oshawa 5-3. Devon Paliani scored his first goal for the Spirit and provided the second tally of the game for Saginaw 2:45 into the period, with Nick Moutrey and Adam McPhail assisting the play. Shortly after the Spirit beat the Generals starting goaltender Jeremy Brodeur on a shorthanded goal by Dylan Sadowy at 5:27, with the help of Keaton Middleton. Saginaw led Oshawa in shots on goal after the second 13-9.
The third period saw the two teams exchange goals starting with two tallies by the Generals to make the score 6-3 Oshawa. Midway through the third period Connor Brown tipped in a goal at the 9:06 mark, putting the score at 7-4 Generals. Assists on the play went to Dylan Sadowy and Ryan Orban. Oshawa retaliated 18 seconds later on a goal by Josh Sterk, assisted by Anthony Cirelli and Will Petschenig. Connor Brown scored a hat trick on the last goal of the game at 19:56 of the period, with an assist by Kris Bennett, making the final score Oshawa 8, Saginaw 5. Final shots on goal favored Oshawa 44-34.
The Saginaw Spirit will travel to the Hershey Centre as they face the Mississauga Steelheads on Sunday, October 26th at 2 p.m. The Spirit will return to the Dow Event Center on Saturday, November 1st when they take on the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds on Military Appreciation Night.
