Owen Sound Attack News Release

The Owen Sound Attack are looking to ride the momentum off of a pair of big wins into two tough weekend match ups.

The Attack will travel to Kitchener to take on the Rangers on Friday night before returning home to face off against the Guelph Storm on Saturday evening. Prior to tonight's game, the Attack made a roster move, acquiring forward Jacob Busch from the Oshawa Generals in exchange for draft picks. Busch is expected to be in the line-up this evening.

Owen Sound is in search of their 3rd straight win on Friday after a 5-4 overtime victory against Windsor on Sunday, Oct. 19 and a lopsided 6-1 defeat of the Barrie Colts on Wednesday, Oct. 22.

The Attack will be looking for Kyle Platzer and Daniel Milne to continue their strong play, as the forwards sit 7th and 8th in Ontario Hockey League scoring, respectively. Platzer leads the team with 16 points thanks to five goals and 11 assists, while Milne six goals and nine assists has him at 15 points through 12 games.

Owen Sound is also receiving strong play on their back end, with overage goaltender Brandon Hope sitting 2nd in the league's goaltending statistical categories with a 2.40 goals against average and a .927 save percentage.

Friday night's game in Kitchener, which is a 7:30pm puck drop, can be watched live on Rogers Local 53 or listened to on 560 CFOS.

Saturday's home game is presented by Caframo, who is also bringing you this season of Attack Hockey. Game time on Saturday is 7:30pm as well.

Tickets for Saturday's game are available at the DJ's Furniture Attack Box Office, online at www.attackhockey.com, or by calling 519-371-7452.

KEYS TO VICTORY

Vs. Kitchener

Justin Bailey is the go-to guy for the Rangers this year, leading them with eight goals and six assists through 10 games this season. Bailey was also a big reason for Kitchener's shootout win over the Attack, tallying one goal, one assist, and the shootout winner in the last meeting between the two teams on Sept. 26.

If the Attack can neutralize Bailey and succeed in getting their forecheck going early, they have a good shot to win.

Vs. Guelph

While Kitchener can be worn down by a forecheck, Guelph also likes to play a physical game and the Attack will need to rely on weathering that storm while getting pucks on net to be successful on Saturday night.

A 3-2 game the last time the teams met, the Attack will need to generate more offence than they did previously.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Ethan Szypula, Centre

12 GP, 6 G, 2 A

Szypula's 2nd year in the league is proving to be much more successful for the gifted forward than his rookie year.

Last season, Szypula scored three goals and three assists in 65 games and already has six goals in just 12 games this year.

The draft eligible forward says he feels more confident in his game than last year and is comfortable playing in all ends of the rink, and it is showing in his play.

Thomas Schemitsch, Defence

12 GP, 4 G, 7 A

Thomas Schemitsch scored his 3rd goal in two games on Wednesday night and is well on his way to surpassing his rookie year point total of 17 points. Schemitsch was passed over in his draft year, but thanks to strong play in both zones, the offensive defenceman is making a case for why he should be drafted this time around.
