Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

The Swing of the Quad Cities announced their first roster move of the season on Tuesday, placing RHP Kyle Sadlowski on the Disabled List retroactive to Sunday and receiving RHP Armando Carrasco from extended spring training.

Carrasco, a 21-year-old from Santa Ana, California, joins the Swing for the start of their four-game series in Dayton Tuesday night. The right-handed reliever spent the 2006 season in the Appalachian League with the Johnson City Cardinals, where he went 1-1 with a 2.63 ERA and four saves in 22 appearances. Carrasco also registered 31 strikeouts over 27.1 innings of work in his pro debut.

Sadlowski, 22, suffered a strained oblique muscle during a scoreless relief appearance in Peoria on Sunday afternoon. The Pennsylvania-native had yet to give up a run during his first three outings of the year, fanning four while allowing just one hit through 2.2 innings.

The two hurlers were selected by the St. Louis Cardinals just two rounds apart in the 2005 draft, with Sadlowski picked in the 34th round out of Kutztown University (PA) before Carrasco went in the 36th round out of Saddleback Community College (CA).

The Swing of the Quad Cities roster currently stands at 25 active players, the maximum allowed by the Midwest League. An updated roster accompanies this release.
