SAN JOSE, Calif. (Oct. 14, 2004) - The defending ArenaBowl champion San Jose SaberCats selected WR/DB JORDAN YOUNGER from the Indiana Firebirds roster with the 16th pick in today's Arena Football League dispersal draft.

The draft allocated players from the Firebirds, Detroit Fury and Carolina Cobras franchises, all of which were terminated last month.

Younger (5-10, 190) had a solid rookie season in the AFL in 2004 and proved to be a valuable two-way player. He collected 21 receptions for 252 yards and four scores on offense while posting 27 tackles and an interception defensively in 14 games.

"We selected a very capable two-way player who can do a number of things for this club," said SaberCats head coach Darren Arbet.

A record setting special teams player at the University of Connecticut, Younger has had stints with the NFL's Arizona Cardinals and Washington Redskins. He was named to the All-NFL Europe team for his special teams play in 2001 while with the Rhein Fire.

The Nashville Kats selected 2004 AFL Rookie of the Year quarterback Adrian McPherson with the top selection in the draft. Overall 29 players were chosen with the Colorado Crush selecting a draft-high four players.

The two-time ArenaBowl Champion SaberCats will open their 11th season in the AFL in January. Season tickets are available on the team's official website www.sanjosesabercats.com or by calling a ticket representative at (408) 573-5577.
