Storm QB Stafford could send NBA fans home happy
October 14, 2004 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Tampa Bay Storm News Release
TAMPA, Fla. â Tampa Bay Storm quarterback Shane Stafford could send fans attending Friday night's NBA preseason contest between the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic at the St. Pete Times Forum home with much more than they originally bargained for.
That's because every fan in attendance has the opportunity to leave the arena with complimentary 2005 Tampa Bay Storm season tickets.
Stafford will attempt two shots, one from full court and one from half court. If he hits the full court shot, everyone in the arena will receive complimentary season tickets for the 2005 Storm season. If he connects from half court, every fan in attendance can purchase Storm season tickets at half price. But instead of lobbing a basketball toward the hoop, Stafford will be attempting to toss a football through the basket.
Tickets for Friday night's NBA preseason game featuring the Heat's newly-acquired All-Star Shaquille O'Neal are on sale now at the St. Pete Times Forum Ticket Office and all Ticketmaster Ticket Centers, including Spec's Music, FYE and the USF Sun Dome.
To order tickets by phone call Ticketmaster at (813) 287-8844 or (727) 898-2100. For more information please call (813) 301-2500 or visit www.stpetetimesforum.com. Tickets are priced at $51.75, $36.75, $26.75, and $16.75.
For group discounts, call (813) 301-6600. Prices do not include service charges
Presented by Champs Sports and Sargento Cheese, the game, set for an 8:00 p.m. tip-off, looks to feature O'Neal along with 2004 Olympic basketball team member Dwyane Wade and three-time All-Star Eddie Jones for the Heat. The Orlando Magic feature the first-round pick in the 2004 NBA Draft, Dwight Howard, and three-time NBA All-Star Steve Francis.
The Miami-Orlando match-up marks the ninth NBA preseason game to be played in the Tampa Bay area and the fifth at the St. Pete Times Forum. The last game played at the St. Pete Times Forum was an 85-80 Detroit Pistons win over the Miami Heat on Oct. 20, 2002. The Magic have played three games at the St. Pete Times Forum, the last being a 105-97 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Oct. 21, 2001. The largest crowd to watch an NBA preseason game at the St. Pete Times Forum came on Oct. 13, 2000 when 17,296 attended a 101-94 Magic win over the Detroit Pistons.
Stafford and the Storm kick off the 2005 season in January at the St. Pete Times Forum. The Storm are looking to extend their league-record streak of postseason appearances to 15 seasons. The five-time World Champions have never failed to advance to the playoffs.
Season tickets for the 2005 season are on sale now at the St. Pete Times Forum Box Office. Storm season tickets may also be purchased by calling (813) 301-6600 or online at www.tampabaystorm.com.
