SaberCats to hold open player tryout

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Sept. 11, 2008) - The three-time ArenaBowl champion San Jose SaberCats will hold an open player tryout for all positions at the club's Sunnyvale practice facility on Saturday, September 20.

The tryout, which is open to players not currently enrolled in college or who have exhausted their eligibility, will be similar in format to Standard Football Combine standards. The day-long session will begin with registration at 8 a.m. and workouts starting promptly at 9 a.m. The SaberCats practice facility is located at 1095 Dunford Way, Sunnyvale, 94086.

Interested participants are encouraged to pre-register on the SaberCats official website at a cost of $65. A fee of $75 will be charged on the day of the tryout payable by cash or money order, and a waiver release form will need to be signed.

All players will be weighed and measured, followed by tests in the 40-yard dash, 20-yard shuttle, broadjump and 225-pound bench press. In addition, participants will take part in a series of position specific drills and one-on-ones.

SaberCats' head coach Darren Arbet and his staff will evaluate all players attending.
