SAN JOSE, Calif. (Nov. 14, 2008) - The three-time ArenaBowl champion San Jose SaberCats will hold a preliminary audition for the 2009 SaberKittens dance team on January 17 at the Fry's gym in Palo Alto.
The SaberKittens, the Arena Football League's premier dance team, will be celebrating their 15th season and will perform at all San Jose SaberCats home games at HP Pavilion in San Jose, as well as represent the organization at promotional and community events throughout the season.
Preliminary auditions are set for 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2009, with final auditions on Sunday, January 18. Auditions will take place at the Fry's Electronics Gym, 382 Portage Avenue in Palo Alto and are free to all participants.
All interested dancers are encouraged to pre-register on-line by clicking the SaberKittens Audition link at www.sanjosesabercats.com. Dancers may register on the day of the audition but should arrive early to fill out paper work.
Applicants must be a high school graduate and at least 18 years of age by January 17. All dancers are required to bring a recent photograph and are asked to wear a two-piece leotard, flesh-colored tights and jazz/dance or non-marking tennis shoes to the audition.
Also, be advised that the SaberKitten auditions will be closed to the public. Registered applicants only will be admitted inside the gymnasium. No friends or family members will be allowed to watch the preliminary or final auditions.
A premiere franchise in the Arena Football League, San Jose has won three ArenaBowl championships and captured eight Western Division titles, nine consecutive playoff appearances and owns the league's best regular season record this decade.
