Rylan Parenteau makes 41 saves as Prince Albert clinches playoff spot

Regina, SK - Rylan Parenteau kicked out 41 shots to lead the Prince Albert Raiders to a 3-1 victory against the Regina Pats on Friday night at the Brandt Centre.

The Raiders scored two goals in similar fashion as defencemen joined the attack and connected from the slot. Vojtech Budik opened the scoring with a power play goal just 1:55 into the game, while Jesse Lees picked up the insurance marker at the 6:44 mark of the middle frame. Reid Gardiner registered his 100th WHL goal into an empty net to round out the scoring.

Cole Sanford got the only goal of the night for the Pats as he broke Parenteau's shutout at 6:58 of the third period.

Parenteau's 41 saves came on 42 shots, while Regina goaltender Tyler Brown turned away 21 of 23 attempts.

The Pats outshot the Raiders 42-23. Prince Albert went 1-for-4 on the power play, while Regina was 1-for-6.

The win by the Raiders guarantees them a spot in the playoffs and improves their record to 34-20-7-1. The Pats see their seven-game win streak come to an end as their record slips to 30-24-3-4.

The Raiders are in action again on Saturday night when they travel to face the Moose Jaw Warriors. The team is back on home ice on Friday, March 4, when they host the Kootenay Ice.
