Kamloops Blazers News Release

The Blazers will close out their four-game road trip tonight against the U.S. Division-leading Everett Silvertips, looking for their first win of the trip as well.

Kamloops hasn't played since Sunday, coming off a 4-3 shootout loss against the Vancouver Giants. The loss was the team's third game in three nights that saw the Blazers go 0-2-0-1.

"[Tonight's] game is important for a couple reasons. We want to stop the losing streak and we want to find ways to get points", Blazers Head Coach Don Hay said. "We've matched up pretty well against Everett this year, even though we haven't found ways to get points we've competed hard against them."

Kamloops is 0-2-1-0 in the season-series against the Silvertips, heading into tonight's fourth and final matchup of the year. The Blazers have dropped all three games by only one goal, losing 4-3 in overtime on Jan. 2nd, 2-1 on Jan. 20th, and most recently 4-3 on Feb. 5th.

After coming back from a three-goal deficit against the Giants to earn a point in their most recent outing, Hay says it's important his group builds off that momentum.

"I thought we bounced back in Vancouver after we were down 3-0, but what's really important is to try and come out with a real good effort and get the lead and play with a lead to put some pressure on other teams."

The Blazers (27-24-5-4) currently sit eighth in the Western Conference standings, while the Silvertips (35-20-3-2) sit comfortably in third, with 12 games remaining for each team in the regular season.

Tonight will be the first game of three games in three nights once again for the Blazers this weekend. Puck drop at Xfinity Arena is set for 7:35pm.
