
Rychel Recalled by Blue Jackets

CLEVELAND - Cleveland's Lake Erie Monsters, proud affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, announced Friday that second-year left wing Kerby Rychel was recalled by Columbus in advance of the Blue Jackets' Friday home game vs. the Toronto Maple Leafs at Nationwide Arena. A left-handed shooter, Rychel was selected by Columbus with the 19th pick of the first round of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
A 6'1", 205 lb. native of Torrance, CA, Rychel registered one assist and a -1 rating in one appearance for Lake Erie this season, a 6-3 Monsters loss to the Rochester Americans at Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, NY on Friday, October 9th. In five appearances for Columbus during the 2014-15 season, Rychel registered three assists, two penalty minutes and a +3 rating while additionally posting 12 goals, 33 points, 43 penalty minutes and a +7 rating in 51 AHL appearances for the Springfield Falcons last year.
Next up for the Monsters, it's "Opening Night" at The Q with puck drop set for 7:00 pm on Friday vs. the Iowa Wild with the first 10,000 fans taking home a Monsters and Blue Jackets Collectors Cup, courtesy of University Hospitals Parma Medical Center. Friday also marks the first of 12 "Blue Jackets Nights" for the Monsters this season, featuring specialty Blue Jackets-themed jerseys and in-game entertainment, and the first "1-2-3 Friday" of the year, featuring $1 sodas, $2 hot dogs and $3 draft beer specials, presented by Pepsi and Sugardale. Fans are also encouraged to stick around after the game for a free postgame skate, presented by Hudec Dental!
