QUOTES
"I don't really think we showed up until the third period. You obviously don't want to play too many games like that." - Forward Derek Grant on the Heat's performance tonight.
"I think anytime you get a goal, then the other team scores quickly afterwards it takes a little out of your sails, but I think we kept playing well in the third and that's something we'll have to build off of moving forward. We have to learn from our mistakes and play a full 60 [minutes]." - Grant on San Jose's fourth goal that came quickly after his lone goal for the Heat.
"I just don't think we had the energy we had in the first game. I think it's a good learning point for our group. Last game we got a lot of the bounces and unfortunately we didn't get those same bounces tonight." - Captain Aaron Johnson on his team's play tonight.
"They were better than us in the second period. We weren't sharp with the details. We gave up two goals off of faceoffs and that's not something that should happen. I thought we started to play much better in the third but you need to play 60 minutes in order to win games and we didn't do that tonight." - Head Coach Ryan Huska on the Heat's breakdown in the second period.
"We weren't moving. It makes a difference losing even just one player. Markus [Granlund] is a good player that wasn't on that top unit tonight. We were just standing still all night. The shots that were there we weren't taking to start with, but we changed that in the third. We just didn't have the same hunger on the power play that we did in the first game." - Coach Huska on the power play's struggles Thursday night.
"It's early in the season and we want to make sure that the mistakes we made tonight don't repeat themselves again. We have to all make sure we're committed and we have to be sharp." - Coach Huska on heading on the team's first road trip to Texas next week.
