Tulsa Oilers News Release

GLENDALE, AZ - The Central Hockey League announced today that Tulsa Oilers forward Ryan Menei has been named the Oakley Second Star of the Month for February. Menei finished just one point back of the First Star of the Month, forward Jamie Schaafsma of the Allen Americans.

Players are awarded five points for each first star of the game selection, three points for a second star selection, and one point for a third star nod. Menei closed out February with 19 points after being named the first star in two games and second star in three games.

In 11 games in February, Menei recorded 11 goals and eight assists. On February 2 against Wichita, the Winnipeg native posted his first hat-trick of the season in the Oilers 5-4 shootout victory. In the very next game on February 5, Menei carried Tulsa to a 5-2 win over Rapid City when he became the first Oiler to score four goals in a single game since 2003.

Menei, a 26-year old right wing, is in his first season with the Oilers. With 12 games remaining in the regular season, Menei leads the team in goals (28) and assists (39) and ranks third in the CHL scoring race with 67 points.

Menei and the Oilers are back in action tonight in Denver for a 7:05 p.m. MST puck drop against the Cutthroats. Tulsa will clash with Denver again on Saturday before returning home on Tuesday night to take on the Arizona Sundogs at 7:05 p.m. CST.
