Rush Stuns Thunder in Third

RAPID CITY, SD- The Wichita Thunder lost 2-1 to the Rapid City Rush at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center on Saturday night.

Konrad Reeder and Jamie Carroll scored at 5:27 and 7:30 in the third period respectively to erase a 1-0 Thunder lead. Reeder tipped in a shot from the point by Gio Flaminio while Carroll scored on a slapshot along the right half boards.

Lance Galbraith broke a scoreless deadlock that lasted nearly two full periods, connecting on a one-timer with 56.3 seconds left in the second period. Troy Schwab led a two-on-one during a Wichita power play and passed to the right circle where Galbraith scored past the left of Rush goaltender Danny Battochio.

Marc-Antoine Gelinas helped keep the Rush off the scoreboard through the first period, stopping 14 shots. Gelinas cut down three clear-cut two-on-one rushes during the first.

Gelinas took the tough loss, saving 33 of 35. Battochio earned the win, saving 26 of 27. Wichita was 1 for 8 on the power play. Rapid City was 0 for 7.
