Rapid City Rush News Release

(Rapid City, SD) - On Saturday night, the Rapid City Rush (34-21-4) earned a 2-1 win over the Wichita Thunder (28-21-6) at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. The contest featured a goaltenders dual between Danny Battochio and Marc-Antoine Gelinas who combined for 59 saves. Konrad Reeder and Jamie Carroll found the twine just 2:03 apart in the third to lift the Rush to victory and a share of first place in the Turner Conference.

After numerous highlight-reel saves, the scoreless tie was broken with just 56 seconds left in the second period, a powerplay goal by Lance Galbraith. After a missed shorthanded chance by the Rush, Troy Schwab led a 2-on-1 opportunity that allowed him to slide a pass to Galbraith for the one-timer home.

The Rush finally got on the board at the 5:27 mark of the third period on Konrad Reeder's 14th goal of the season. Gio Flamminio snapped a shot from the right point that was redirected home by Reeder for the equalizer. Just over two minutes later, Jamie Carroll broke into the offensive zone and blasted a slapshot from the top of the right circle that beat Gelinas under the blocker. Carroll's goal, which served as the eventual game winner, was assisted by Colt King who collected his 300th career point on the play.

Danny Battochio turned away 26 shots for his league-leading 25th win of the season while Gelinas made 33 saves in the loss.
