Rapid City Rush News Release

(Rapid City, SD) - The Rapid City Rush celebrated Military Appreciation Night at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center on Friday night. The party was spoiled as the Rush were blanked for the second straight game, getting pummeled by the Odessa Jackalopes by a score of 8-0. The two teams will square off again tomorrow, after the Parade of Lights, at 8:05PM. Tickets are still available for the game.

Despite the shots being even in the first period, it was the Jackalopes who capitalized on their opportunities, charging out to a 3-0 lead. The first tally came exactly nine minutes in, from Jacks leading scorer Sebastien Thinel who chipped in a second effort from the left side of the net. Just thirty seconds later, Kenny Corupe scored his 5th goal of the season to double the lead. Completing the first period barrage was Thinel, collecting his team-leading 12th goal of the season, making it a 3-0 game after twenty minutes.

In the second, the Jacks got right back at it with the first of five consecutive special teams goals. One minute and 45 seconds into the period, Kenny Bernard scored his first of two on a goal assisted by Todd Robinson and Thinel. Mike Lesperance concluded the second period scoring with a powerplay goal at the 5:38 mark, making it 5-0 heading into the final frame.

The special teams onslaught continued in the third with Kenny Bernard scoring his second of the game at 5:49 and Dominic Leveille netting his 5th of the season at the 11:40 mark. Finally, in the final minute, the Jacks picked up a shorthanded goal from Kenny Corupe to bring the game to its 8-0 final.

Tomorrow's game is set for 8:05PM. Tickets are still available.
