Allen Americans News Release

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz- The Arizona Sundogs cooled off the Allen Americans Friday night at Tim's Toyota Center, winning 5-1. For the Americans, the loss is only the second all season away from the Allen Event Center.

Alexandre Quesnel got the Americans on the board first, when he scored at 10:03 of the first period. Dustin Donaghy and newly acquired winger Kip Brennan assisted on Quesnel's second goal of the season.

The rest of the period was controlled by the Sundogs, due to four Americans infractions throughout the frame. Chris Whitley came up huge for Allen, however, allowing only a Mark Kolanos goal at 17:15, which tied up the score at 1. Whitley saw 16 Arizona shots in the first period, while the often short-handed Americans could muster just 7.

While the second period was dominated on the shot clock by Allen, 16-5, the Sundogs managed to extend their lead to 3-1. Corey Laurysen scored shorthanded at 12:54, while Kolanos scored at 17:50 to give the ‘Dogs a two-goal cushion.

The Americans got into more penalty trouble in the third period, and the Sundogs capitalized. Cam Keith scored a pair of power play markers in the frame, giving the Sundogs a commanding 5-1 lead mid-way through.

Allen outshot the Sundogs 31-30 for the night, but went 0-5 with the man advantage, while Arizona went 3-8.

The two clubs will meet again Saturday night in Prescott Valley for the third of three games this week.

Fans can hear the game on www.975klak.com, and see the game on CHL TV. As is the case on all road games, Boston's at 121 in McKinney will have the watching party.

The Americans will return home December 3rd and 4th to face off against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs and the Laredo Bucks.
