Laredo Bucks News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Texas Brahmas 4-3 in overtime Friday night at NYTEX Sports Center. The Bucks two game winning streak comes to an end as they fall to 6-8-2 (14 points) on the season.
Todd Griffith scored with just 9.2 seconds left in overtime to lift the Brahmas to the win as they improve to 8-5-2 (18 points) on the season.
Texas tied the game at 3-3 with 4:33 left in regulation when they were awarded a questionable goal by Jason Krischuk. The puck was stopped by Pier Pelletier but the officials claimed that the puck rolled across the line to tie the game. Pelletier stopped 36 of 40 shots as he suffered the hard-luck loss.
Texas came back from a 3-1 deficit to pick up the win.
The Brahmas jumped out in front with a power-play goal just 2:32 into the game when Jason Deitsch hammered in a rebound from the left side of the slot. The tally was Deitsch's fifth of the season.
The Bucks tied the game at 1-1 with 7:09 left in the first when they notched their first shorthanded goal of the season. Joe Scali picked up a loose puck at center ice and scored from the left circle on an odd-man rush after streaking down the left wing. The goal was Scali's second in as many games.
Texas outshot the Bucks 13-7 in the first period.
The Bucks would strike for two goals in 58 seconds to open up a 3-1 lead early in the second period.
Jeff Bes put the Bucks up 2-1 just 3:49 into the second period when he picked up a loose puck in the slot and rifled home his fifth goal of the season. Bes has scored a goal in three of the Bucks last four games.
Laredo would increase their lead to 3-1 just 58 seconds later when Daniel Koger hammered in a slap shot from the right circle to net his 11th of the campaign.
The Brahmas would pull Kevin Beech in favor of Wayne Savage after Beech allowed three goals on nine shots. Savage stopped all 18 shots he faced in replacing Beech.
Texas cut the Laredo lead to 3-2 at the 10:06 mark of the period when Steven Later scored a power-play goal from the slot to pick up his second of the season.
The Brahmas outshot the Bucks 12-9 in the second period.
The Bucks were outshot 12-9 in the third and 3-2 in overtime as they were outshot 40-27 in the game.
