RAPID CITY, SOUTH DAKOTA - Forward Cody Ferriero had one goal and 2 assists and Ryan Misiak scored the game-winner midway through the second period as the Rapid City rush downed the Alaska Aces 3-1 Sunday at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.

A rather benign but quick first period started the afternoon. No scoring, and just one minor penalty, a hooking call on Alaska's Garrett Haar. The Aces outshot the Rush 11-7 in the period.

Halfway through the second period, the Rush finally found the back of the net. Lindsay Sparks followed his own shot and popped the puck past Alaska goaltender Jacob DeSerres at 9:51 with an assist to Cody Ferriero. It was Sparks' 8th goal of the season.

41 seconds later, James Melindy unleashed a shot from the blueline that DeSerres blocked. The rebound was tipped by Ferreiro, then Ryan Misiak whacked the puck into the net for his 3rd goal in the last 2 games, and his 5th of the season.

The Aces pushed back in the third period with Garrett Haar's dart from the right circle at 9:15 from Ben Lake and Tony Deluca. The goal was Haar's 2nd of the season.

Alaska pushed hard for the game-tying goal but were denied by goaltender Danny Battochio and his defense. Ferriero finished the scoring with an empty-netter at 19:04 to make it a 3-1 final.

DeSerres finished with 22 saves for Alaska, while Battochio stopped 33 Aces shots for his second win of the weekend. He also backstopped the Rush to a 3-2 win Friday.

The Aces continue their West Division road trip in Colorado against the Eagles Wednesday, Feb. 24.

The Aces return to the Sullivan Arena on Friday, March 9 against Ft. Wayne.
