Rug Rats and Cap Giveaway for Regular Season Finale

Bakersfield, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors of the West Coast Hockey League are preparing for their last weekend of the regular season, hosting the Idaho Steelheads on Friday and Saturday night. Both games start at 7:00pm.

On Friday night, the Rug Rats make their return to Centennial Garden courtesy of Time Warner Cable and KBID 1350. The popular Nickelodeon stars will entertain the crowd throughout the game. The match will be televised live on Time Warner Cable Ch. 21, and replayed on Saturday morning at 10:00am.

Finally there's a good reason to open your bills. Friday's match is also a Time Warner Cable Family Night, allowing all subscribers to receive $5.00 terrace tickets by presenting the coupon available in their cable bill. It's also Sierra Mist Discount Night. Fans can receive $2.00 off any ticket by presenting the neckringer coupon on Sierra Mist and Mountain Dew 2-liter bottles found at participating Rite Aid stores throughout Bakersfield.

Friday's game is a Big Buddies Night as well. Underprivileged children are given the opportunity to attend this game for free, thanks to local organizations and the Active 20/30 Club. Over 3,000 tickets have been purchased for local youth this season as a part of the Big Buddies Program.

Before the match, Epic recording artists, "The Derailers," will perform the National Anthem. "The Derailers" are in town this weekend and they will be performing at the Crystal Palace.

The competition will continue during the intermissions, with the return of Broomball to the Garden. During the first intermission, members of the local media will take on local politicians in a rematch of last season's controversial game, a shutout for the politicians. The second intermission is the Guns ‘N Hoses match, between the Kern County Sheriffs and the Bakersfield Fire Department.

Saturday's match is the last game of the regular season for both Idaho and Bakersfield. The first 2,000 fans will receive a Condors 5th Anniversary Cap, sponsored by Real Rock 104.3 and R.A. Kleiner Insurance.

Before the game, starting at 2:00pm, the Condors will host the fourth annual Condors Christian Music Festival, sponsored by Jesus Shack. Local bands will play on the Garden Plaza throughout the afternoon, leading up to the start of the game. Admission is free.

Saturday's game is also a D.A.R.E. Night, sponsored by 101.5 KGFM and Holiday Inn Select. Students graduating from the D.A.R.E. program receive complimentary admission to the game.

During the first intermission of Saturday's game, the Condors will reward defenseman Jonas Lennartsson with the Kern Trophies Condor of the Month Award for March. The fans selected the Swedish blueliner in an online poll at www.bakersfieldcondors.com. Goaltender Kevin St. Pierre will also be presented with his eighth WCHL Goaltender of the Week Award as well during the intermission. Both players have had big weeks with Lennartsson being named to the WCHL All-Rookie Team and St. Pierre awarded a spot on the All-WCHL Team earlier in the week.

Individual tickets can be purchased at the Centennial Garden Box Office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday, by calling Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at ticketmaster.com or stopping by any Ticketmaster location. Group outings may be purchased by calling 324-PUCK (7825) or by visiting the Condors office next to Centennial Garden.

Condors droppings: The Condors will host the first two games of the Taylor Cup Playoffs opening round, against the San Diego Gulls on April 11th and 12th. Individual tickets will go on sale on Friday morning, April 4th at 10:00am. Game time for both contests is 7:00pm.
