Arkansas Drops Game Two

Terry Marchant scored just 59 seconds into the game, but Nathan Rempel scored two unanswered goals to give the Louisiana IceGators a 2-1 victory over the Arkansas RiverBlades Thursday in Game Two of the Southwest Division Semi-Finals, giving Louisiana a 2-0 series lead.

Marchant opened up the scoring with his first of the playoffs, assisted by Damon Whitten at the 59-second mark.

Nathan Rempel then tied it for Louisiana in the second period, notching a power-play goal from Andrew Proskurnicki and Cal Benazic at 4:57. Rempel would then get the game-winner unassisted at the 17:38 mark of the third period to give the Gators the win.

Louisiana outshot Arkansas 32-31 for the game, and the IceGators were 1-for-6 on the power-play. The RiverBlades were 0-for-4. Scott Fankhouser made 30 saves in net for Arkansas, and Kyle Kettles blocked 30 of his own in goal for Louisiana.

Arkansas now returns home facing elimination. Game 3 will be held Saturday night at the Alltel Arena, with faceoff coming at 7:05 p.m.
