SAN DIEGO, California – The West Coast Hockey League has recognized Dean Larson as the inaugural winner of the Maurice Lacroix Man of the Year award for community service and off-ice contributions in and around the city of Anchorage.

Larson enters the final two games of his career as the all-time leading scorer in the history of the WCHL with 783 points on 258 goals and 525 assists. But Aces' director of community relations Diane Johnson felt his off-ice accomplishments were equally, if not more, impressive. "We nominated Dean for this award because he is the rare elite athlete who comes across better away from his sport than he does playing it," said Johnson. "I've worked with Dean for many years and he has the unique ability to make each person he meets feel as if he or she is the most important person in his world at that moment."

"Maurice Lacroix Swiss Watches is honored to present the Maurice Lacroix WCHL Man of the Year award to Dean Larson," said Carol Levey, Senior Director, Marketing and Public Relations for Maurice Lacroix USA. "Dean truly embodies the spirit of this award through his sportsmanship, leadership and commitment to the people of Anchorage."

Larson will be presented with a special Maurice Lacroix "Milestone" timepiece to celebrate the achievements of his career and community service. Maurice Lacroix is one of the most successful newcomers among Swiss watch brands and has established itself as a market leader in Germany in the upper-middle price segment. The brand is represented in over 4,000 specialist shops in 45 countries around the globe. For more information on Maurice Lacroix Swiss Watches, visit www.mauricelacroixusa.com.

The Aces practiced today in Long Beach, then traveled to San Diego for tomorrow night's clash with the second-place Gulls at 6:00 p.m. AST. Larson will be honored by representatives from the WCHL and Maurice Lacroix prior to Saturday's regular season finale against San Diego at 6:00 p.m. AST, in what presumably will be the final game of Larson's eight-year pro career. All games are broadcast live on KFQD 750 AM and at www.anchorageaces.com, with Jack Michaels calling the play-by-play. Coverage begins 20 minutes prior to the opening face-off, presented by GCI.
