Fresno Falcons News Release

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno Falcons defenseman Cory Murphy has been called-up to play for the Utah Grizzlies of the American Hockey League. The Falcons have also re-instated forward Tyler Prosofksy from suspension.

Murphy becomes the first Falcons player to receive a call-up to the AHL this season. The promotion caps a banner week for Fresno's top-scoring defenseman. On Tuesday he was named to the All-WCHL Team, and last night in a 4-2 defeat of the Idaho Steelheads he posted a new single-season career high with his 17th goal of the year. Murphy will be on the Grizzlies' roster for three games this Friday, Saturday and Sunday as the club fights for a playoff berth. He is slated return to the Falcons in time for their first round playoff match-up against the Steelheads.

Prosofsky re-joins the Falcons after having been suspended by the team in February. In 23 games he recorded 10 points (6g-4a) and 67 penalty minutes. His addition brings Fresno to the maximum of 21 players allowed on team rosters.

The Falcons wrap up the regular season this Friday and Saturday in Long Beach against the Ice Dogs before taking on the Steelheads in the first round of the Taylor Cup Playoffs. Fresno's title defense gets underway with Games One and Two of the best-of-seven series on Apr. 11 and 12 in Boise at the Bank of America Centre.
