The two losses complete the three-game series sweep, marking the first time since August 6-8, 2013 (vs. Richmond) that the 'Dogs have been swept at home in a three-game series.

GAME ONE RECAP

The Akron RubberDucks scored the final two runs, taking the doubleheader opener, 4-2 from the Portland Sea Dogs. With the win, Akron took the series from Portland and improved their league-leading road record to 39-25.

RHP Will Roberts (12-11) worked five strong innings on two runs and seven hits to earn the win. RHP Luis Diaz took the loss for the 'Dogs, giving up all four runs over 5.2 IP.

Akron jumped on the board in the first inning on Anthony Gallas' solo-homer over the Maine Monster, his 13th of the season. Portland tied the game in the second inning. Keury De La Cruz led off with a single and scored on Carson Blair's triple off the center-field wall. Blair has hit safely in his first 5 games in Double-A.

The RubberDucks took the lead in the third inning off Diaz. Ronny Rodriguez began the frame with a single, advanced to second base on a ground out, and scored on Justin Toole's single to right.

De La Cruz tied things at two in the fourth, blasting a home run near the LL Bean boot in right field. De La Cruz smacked his fourth homer of the season, but his first at Hadlock Field.

Akron continued their trend of scoring in the odd innings, plating the winning run off Diaz in the fifth. Jaime Pedroza led off with a bunt-single and scored on a two-out single from Justin Toole. Pedroza added an RBI bloop-single in sixth.

GAME TWO RECAP

The Akron RubberDucks took down the Portland Sea Dogs and completed the doubleheader sweep with a 1-0 win in game two, Thursday afternoon at Hadlock Field.

Both teams were held scoreless by their counterparts over the first six innings of game two, but the 'Ducks struck for gold in the top of the seventh and final inning.

Jaime Pedroza stepped into the box and crushed a high, off-speed 1-1 pitch from Justin Haley into the U.S. Cellular Pavilion for a solo shot, his first in the Indians system, and gave Akron the 1-0 lead.

Portland got the leadoff man on in the bottom-half of the inning, but went quietly with a strikeout and a 4-6-3 double play against Louis Head to end the game.

Head (1-1) earned the win for the 'Ducks and tossed two scoreless innings allowing three hits and striking out two.

Haley (1-1) took the loss in the second game, but his outing should not go overlooked. The righty allowed the one run, on six hits in six and one-third innings. He did walk five and struck out three. The righty pitched out of three two-on no-out situations in the game. Aaron Kurcz backed him up with two-thirds of an inning.

Cody Anderson took the hill for the 'Ducks and was outstanding in his five innings of work. The righty, in his 22nd start did not allow a run and gave up just two hits to Portland. He walked one and struck out four, but did not qualify for a decision.

The Sea Dogs bid adieu to the RubberDucks and welcome in the Richmond Flying Squirrels to Hadlock Field for the first of a three game set, Friday night at 7:00PM.
