Notes:
Record Breaker - By recording three assists tonight, Royals' Captain Matthew Phillips set the franchise record for most points in a single season with 104 (44g-60a). The record was previously owned by former Chilliwack Bruin Mark Santorelli who registered 101 points (27g-74a) in the 2007-08 season.
WHL First - Royals' forward Tarun Fizer (2001) registered his first WHL goal in the third period. The product of Chestermere, AB has tallied six points (1g-5a) in 41 games this season.
Perfect Powerplay - Victoria's powerplay unit was perfect tonight as they posted a mark of 3/3. This marked the 10th time in Royals' history that the club was perfect with the man-advantage. The last time Victoria managed to accomplish the feat was exactly one year ago when they held a record of 3/3 against the Spokane Chiefs.
Activating the Blueline - Victoria received goals from four different blueliners as Scott Walford, Jared Freadrich, Kade Jensen and Chaz Reddekopp all scored. This marks the first time in Royals' history that four defencemen scored in a game.
Back in the Line-up - Victoria defenceman Chaz Reddekopp returned to Victoria's line-up after a 20-game absence and registered a goal. The signed Los Angeles Kings' prospect has now found the scoresheet in his last six contests and has total of eight points (3g-5a) during that span.
Top Playmakers - Both Dante Hannoun and Tyler Soy reached the 50-assist benchmark on the season tonight. Victoria now has three players with at least 50 assists, as Phillips leads the team with 60, which is tied for the second highest total among all WHL teams.
Next Up - The Royals are back in action at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre on Tuesday, March 6th and Wednesday, March 7th against the Spokane Chiefs. Puck drop for both contests are set for 7:05 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Select Your Tickets box office, over the phone by calling 250-220-7777, or online at www.selectyourtickets.com.
