Toledo Walleye News Release

(Reading, PA) The Toledo Storm (7-4-0) were defeated by the Reading Royals (5-4-3) tonight 5-2. Toledo will host Cincinnati Sunday afternoon at 3:05pm.

Unlike last night, the Toledo Storm scored first to grab the lead late in the first period on Andrew Martin's fourth goal of the year. At 18:01 of the first period Martin took a slap shot from the top of the left circle that beat Reading goaltender Ryan Munce to give Toledo a 1-0 lead after the first. Gerry Burke and Matt Zultek collected the assists on the power play goal.

The Royals would tie the game at 1 while on a 5 on 3 power play, when Shawn Collymore took a Dominic Vicari rebound and slammed the puck into the back of the net 5:08. The Royals took the lead at 9:01 of the second, when Chris Bala beat Vicari with a wrist shot for his second goal of the season.

The Storm came bouncing back as they tied the game when Andrew Martin tailed for the second time, this time a one-timer of a perfect pass from Matt Zultek. Martin's second goal of the game and his fifth of the season sent the teams to the locker room after two periods in a 2-2 tie.

The Royals exploded in the third period scoring three consecutive goals. Reading reclaimed the lead at 3:01 of the third period on a Malcolm MacMillan goal. The Royals were not done there, as they would make it a 2-goal game at 9:26 when Arpad Mihaly deposited one past Vicari. The period was not complete until Larry Courville collected his second goal of the season at 12:01 of the third.

Dominic Vicari, making back-to-back starts for the first time this season, made 31 saves in a losing effort. Reading out shot Toledo 36-17 for the game.

Notes: Andrew Martin followed up his first non-point night with his first 2-goal effort.
