South Carolina Stingrays News Release

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays and head coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that right winger Matt Stefanishion and center Kyle Wilson have been added to the roster.

Stefanishion, 23, has been sent down to the Stingrays from their AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears. Signed as a free agent on April 1, 2006 by the Washington Capitals, the Daysland, Alberta native is in his first year of professional hockey. He played two years of junior hockey with the Melville Millionaires and two years of college hockey with the Ferris State University Bulldogs. Last year with the Bulldogs, Stefanishion had 13 points (9g, 4a) in 23 games with 50 penalty minutes and ended the season tied for third on the team with six power-play goals. Stefanishion, at 6'3" and 225-pounds, has not played a game yet this season due to injuries.

"Stefanishion is a quality power forward," noted Fitzsimmons. "He brings much-needed size to our line-up, and even though he hasn't had the chance to play in Hershey yet, we anticipate great progress here."

Wilson, 22, was a free agent before being signed by the Stingrays. The Oakville, Ontario native is in his first year of professional hockey after graduating from Colgate University earlier this year where he played college hockey all four years. This year the 6', 200-pound center has played seven games with the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League where he has scored one point off one goal. Wilson was a ninth round draft pick of the Minnesota Wild in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

"Wilson put up solid numbers in college including 41 points in 39 games his senior year," said Fitzsimmons. "He proved himself at the AHL level and we're looking forward to him playing down here in Charleston."
